North East Coast Exhibition, Tynemouth, 1882, silver prize medal, Neptune in marine car to left, ship and view of coast line in distance, reverse naval architecture marine engineering fishery life saving and coast lighting appliances etc tynemouth in eight lines, wreath around, 50mm, in case of issue. Extremely fine, nicely toned and rare

Although the obverse of the medal and inside lid of the case are inscribed “Reid & Sons Newcastle upon Tyne” , Reid were almost certainly acting as agents. The workmanship is excellent and the dies must have been engraved by one of the better medallists of the day.
