Thomas Lacey was an Ordinary Seaman aboard H.M.S. Caesar, flagship to Sir Richard Strachan and his fleet of eight ships. During the engagement the French Man of War Mont Blanc surrendered to H.M.S. Caesar, hauling down her colours after sustaining 180 men killed and wounded. Approximately 296 clasps were issued for this action, 65 to H.M.S. Caesar.
