Lieutenant-Colonel Water Lewis Harrison entered the Army Veterinary Corps (Territorial Force) as a Captain in 1907. He served in France and Salonika before commanding the Veterinary Corps in South Russia. For his services in Salonika he received the O.B.E. and two M.I.D's. For his services in South Russia he was awarded the C.B.E. and was again mentioned in despatches. He was the author of a history of the Army Veterinary Corps in the Great War.
