'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty from March 1917 to November 1918, particularly during the period 16 September to 11 November 1918 as platoon Sergeant. On one occasion at Beauregard Dovecote, he was entirely responsible for the capture of over 30 prisoners. His initiative has been of much support to his company commander.'
