Offa (757-796), kings of mercia, Offa (757-796), Eoba, Canterbury, short cross of lobes on long cross botonnée, offa rex around, reverse eoba on leaves of a Celtic cross, small saltire cross in centre, pellets in angles, 1.27 gms (N. 276; CEB 50; cf. S. 906). Very fine, an excessively rare variety (£800-1,200)

Blunt (“The Coinage of Offa”, ASC) only knew of one other example of this variety
