42nd Royal Highland (The Black Watch) Regiment, an officer’s shoulder belt plate c1850-1881 (Parkyn p211), the rectangular matt gilt back plate with raised burnished rim, mounted with the a cut silver star of the Order of the Thistle, upon this silver ‘42’ within a gilt circle inscribed with the motto of the Order, thistle wreath surround and crown above, a gilt Sphinx below, two hooks and studs to reverse with impressed maker’s mark ‘AGW’, slight wear to gilt mount otherwise excellent condition £250-350
