D.C.M. London Gazette 30 March 1916: ‘2nd Bn. Royal Highlanders (attached Bareilly Brigade, Machine Gun Company). For conspicuous gallantry in assisting to carry back his gun a long distance under heavy rifle and bomb fire. Only two of the team were left and they frequently came into action to cover the retirement.’
John Robertson, born Wick, Caithness, enlisted Perth, was killed in action in Egypt on 8 June 1918. He is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, now in Israel.
