D.C.M. London Gazette 28 March 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of an ammunition convoy. The battery being in action and no unloading party available, he proceeded to unload the convoy, and personally unloaded about 300 rounds. Several men and horses were wounded, but no confusion ensued, and the convoy was cleared. He has displayed good leadership on every occasion when in charge of convoys along heavily shelled roads.’
