George II (1727-1760), The Prince of Orange and the Duke of Cumberland, 1747, silver medal by Pingo, bust of William of Orange left, reverse bust of Cumberland right, 42mm (MI ii, 634/326; v.Loon suppl. xxii 214). Surface rather marked and has been cleaned, otherwise about very fine (£50-60)

This medal is believed to relate to the meeting in the Hague of Cumberland and William, Prince of Orange in the winter of 1746 to plan the forthcoming campaign against the French, in which the British part of the allied army was commanded by the Duke. A very rare medal and the first example seen by the cataloguers.
