The Order of the British Empire, O.B.E. (Military) 2nd type; Distinguished Flying Cross, G.V.R.; 1914 Mons Star (3427 Pte., 10/ L’pool. R.); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut., R.A.F.); 1939-45 Star; Defence and War Medals, M.I.D.; Russia, Order of St. Stanislas, 3rd class breast badge with swords, in gilt and enamels, Russian marks, Eagles and swords detached from two angles on the last, otherwise good very fine (9)

D.F.C. London Gazette 1 April, 1920: Flying Officer Arthur Hilton Day, “A” Detachment (3rd Cheshire Regt.) ‘At Tsaritzin, on 10th October, 1919, when the large flotilla of Bolshevik vessels broke through the Volga defences, he descended to a low altitude, and, by means of bombs and machine-gun fire, materially assisted in the complete rout of the enemy ships which subsequently followed. He has proved a gallant officer in every situation, and was wounded on the occasion referred to.’
Commisioned 2nd Lieutenant, Cheshire Regiment, 14 June, 1917; 2nd Lieutenant (Aeroplane Officer), Royal Air Force, 29 November, 1918. Ten D.F.C.’s and one Bar were awarded for operations in South Russia.
