Lawrence Walsh enlisted at Chorley on 3 April, 1915, and served with the 3rd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers in Egypt, 19/9/1915 to 23/3/1916, and France, 24/3/1916 to 19/8/1917. He was wounded by a gun shot in the left hand on 15 July, 1916, and again, severely, in the left forearm on 12 August, 1917.
