Devereux Hammond (†March 1720), mercer; wife’s name Barbara. He was the son of David Hammond who, as mayor of Tenby in 1642, had claimed the town for Parliament on the outbreak of the Civil War. The token issuer was one of Tenby’s most prominent citizens in the second half of the seventeenth century, serving as mayor in 1664, 1671, 1679 and 1691. Documents bearing his signature survive in the National Library of Wales and Tenby Museum.
