Medals Related to Music, Germany, Giacomo Meyerbeer, lead medal by Carl Radnitsky, Vienna, 1857, head r., reverse five line legend within wreath, 47mm (Niggl 1332; A.u.E. 198). Good very fine, but somewhat discoloured (£15-20)

Meyerbeer, Giacomo (1791-1864). German operatic composer, born Jakob Beer, the son of a Jewish banker; adopted the name Meyer form a benefactor and italianized his first name.
