Medals Related to Music, Switzerland, Sigismund Thalberg, bronze medal by Oswald Steinböck, head r. reverse lyre entwined with laurel wreath, 56mm (Niggl 299; A.u.E. 299). About extremely fine, of curious but not unpleasing colour, perhaps the result of imperfect bronzing (£20-30)

Thalberg, Sigismund (1812–1871). Swiss composer and virtuoso pianist, born in Geneva, died in Naples.
