Frederick Brooke Corfield was born at Calcutta on 4 December, 1803, and entered the Indian Army, as Ensign, 3 April, 1820. He commanded the 20th Native Infantry through the Second Sikh War, and was present at the battles of Chilianwala and Goojerat. Served during the Indian Mutiny but did not take part in any prominent actions. He was promoted to full General in 1877, and died on 2 September, 1884.
