Crimea 1854-55, 1 clasp, Sebastopol, name erased; China 1857-60, 2 clasps, Taku Forts 1860, Pekin 1860 (Capt., 1st Dragn. Gds.) officially impressed naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, contact marks, otherwise very fine (3)

Captain Robert Alfred Loraine Grews served in the Crimean Campaign from 10th August, 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol. Served also in the campaign of 1860 in China where he was engaged at Sinho, present at the fall of the Taku Forts, engaged in the actions of 18th and 21st September, and also in the advance on Pekin. According to family tradition, Grews is reported to have brought back to England the first Pekinese dogs, taken at the sacking of the Palace.
