John Arthur Gidden was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade and served with the Carnatic Infantry, I.A. His B.W.M. was issued by the India Office and is his sole medal entitlement.

Frank Eales served in the ranks of the 13th D.L.I. and was wounded on the Somme. He was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade 30 January 1918 and joined the 12th (Service) Battalion in France on 28 April. He is mentioned several times in the War Diary for patrol work. He was gassed on 5 September, rejoined the battalion and then left it for demobilisation on 13 February 1919. Sadly he died of Pneumonia at home on 2 March 1919.

Herbert Gordon Garratt, a schoolmaster, joined the Queen’s Westminster Rifles in 1916, serving in France from July to September, when he was wounded on the Somme. He was commissioned in the Rifle Brigade 29 August 1917 and served in France with the 1st Bn., Sept-8 November 1917 when he returned to the U.K. for an operation arising out of his 1916 wounds. On discharge from hospital he was graded C2 and remained in the U.K.

R. D. Winsloe was educated at Malvern and Sandhurst, commissioned in the Rifle Brigade 24 April 1918 and served with the 1st Bn. in France, being wounded on 20 August 1918. After the war served with the 3rd Bn. then transferred to O.B.L.I. in 1923. Re-employed 1939-45, Captain, entitled to Defence Medal.
