Henry Richard Sugden was born on 13 July 1862, son of Rev. Frank Sudgen. He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford, B.A. 1884, was ordained as Deacon in 1885 and Priest in 1886. He worked as a Missionary for the Church Missionary Society at Singo, Eastern Equatorial Africa, from 1893-99. Sold with further research including extracts from C.M.S. publications with letters from Reverend Sugden during this period.
