72nd (Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders) Regiment, a good quality Victorian officer’s dirk, the carved bog-oak handle complete with copper gilt ring, collar and facetted stone, the saw-back blade etched with the Royal Arms and ‘VR’ cypher, unit numerals and title, battle honours from Hindoostan to Central India; the black leather scabbard with four copper gilt mounts and companion knife and fork, the top mount with engraved unit numerals, a plain black leather dirk-strap attached to the scabbard, retailed by Hawkes & Co London Manufacturers to the Queen, one nail missing from the handle and the majority of the others white metal replacements, the blade in very good condition, all copper gilt areas with heavy wear and little gilt remaining £600-800
