Born 12 October 1844 in St Pancras, London. Joined the service as a Boy 2nd Class aboard H.M.S.FORMIDABLE on 30 May 1861. Advanced to "Ord" aboard H.M.S.REVENGE in June 1863, and drafted to H.M.S. DUNCAN on 21 January 1864. Sent to "citadel cells" from 1 May to 28 May 1866, rejoining DUNCAN in the lower rate of Ordinary Seaman 2nd Class, discharged on 18 March 1867 to H.M.S. NIGER, and on 25 March 1867 was drafted to join H.M.S. TERROR. Since his Service Documents give no details whatsoever of his career nothing further is known about him, beyond the fact that he had left the service prior to 1st January 1873.
