D.S.M. London Gazette 15 February 1919 ‘The following awards have been approved for services in Monitors off the Belgian Coast between 1 July and 11 November 1918.’

H.M.S. GENERAL CRAUFURD was a ‘Lord Clive’ Class Monitor, built by Harland & Woolff, Belfast, and launched in July 1915 of 5,900 tons. Her measurements were length 320 feet, beam 87 feet and draught 10 feet. Her armourment comprised two 12-inch guns, two 12-pdr guns and one 3-pdr AA Gun. The GENERAL CRAUFURD operated throughout the war with the Dover Patrol and along with other ships of her class took part in countless coastal bombardments along the Belgian coast in support of the Allied Armies fighting in Flanders.
