Harold Hough (alias James Wood) was born in Longsight, Manchester, and attested at Bury on 14 February 1888, aged 18 years. He volunteered in 1914 at the age of 44 for active service and joined the 6/7th Battalion, Manchester Regiment; served in Egypt and Gallipoli. The medal roll for the Q.S.A. confirms the last four clasps only. Sold with two original photographs, the first of the recipient in uniform wearing the first four medals, the second a group photograph of the Sergeants Mess, 7th Lancashire Fusiliers, at Ripon in 1925, all wearing medals.
