City of Nottingham Past Lord Mayor’s Badge, 9 carat gold and enamels, hallmarked Birmingham 1936, 100mm x 62mm, the reverse finely inscribed ‘Presented by the City Council to Alderman Sir Albert Ball, Kt., J.P., Lord Mayor of Nottingham, in recognition of his eminent services as Lord Mayor 1935-1936. Mayor 1909-1910. Mayor 1920 (Part). 9th November 1936’, a little flaking to enamel on motto, otherwise good very fine

Alderman Sir Albert Ball was the father of the famous Great War air ace Captain Albert Ball, V.C., D.S.O.**, M.C., killed in action in 1917, the most decorated man in the British Army at his age of 20 years. Alderman Albert Ball was created a Knight in 1924 and was Lord of the Manors of Bunny, Bradmore and Tollerton. He was Mayor of Nottingham 1909-10, 1920, and Lord Mayor 1935-36. He died on 27 March 1946.
