A fine Medical group of four to Deputy Surgeon General Andrew Semple, 18th Royal Irish Regiment, later Army Medical Department
Crimea 1854-55, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Asst. Surgeon, 18th R.I. Regt.) contemporary engraved naming; Abyssinia 1867-68 (Staff Surgn., Med’l Staff) neat repair to suspension; South Africa 1877-79, clasp, 1879 (Surgn. Maj., M.D., A.M. Dept.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, generally good very fine or better (4)

Andrew Semple served as Assistant Surgeon with the 18th Regiment in the Crimea and was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attacks on the Redan of 7 and 18 June (Mentioned in despatches, medal and clasp). Served in the Abyssinian Expedition 1867-8 on the Medical Staff and in South Africa during the Zulu campaign, when he was present at the battle of Ulundi (Despatches London Gazette 21 August 1879, medal with clasp).
