1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star; Defence and War Medals, together with named condolence slip and card box of issue addressed to his Widow, extremely fine (6)

John Charles French was killed in action on 20 September 1943, whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Escapade when one of its own anti-submarine devices exploded prematurely when in action against an enemy submarine. Fifteen men were killed and a further ten seriously wounded in this accident. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
