An Iraq campaign I.D.S.M. pair awarded to Dafadar Badan Singh, 10th Lancers (Hodson’s Horse)

Indian Distinguished Service Medal, G.V.R. (3056 Dfdr. Badan Singh, 10/Lcrs.); General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Iraq (3056 L.Dfdr, 10-Lcrs.) contact marks and polished, therefore good fine (2)

I.D.S.M. A.D. Notification No. 1972 of 7 October 1921. Almost certainly an award for the defence of the Armoured Train at Samawa, 28th August-3rd September, 1920, when Captain O. B. P. Russell, M.C., commanding a detachment of Hodson’s Horse, was killed and recommended for the award of a posthumous Victoria Cross. Two Indian Orders of Merit were awarded and four I.D.S.M’s are shown in the above Notification for men of Hodson’s horse. Further details sold with the pair.
