General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Iraq (Capt. G. Ireland) repair to suspension and edge bruising, therefore nearly very fine

Colonel Gilbert Ireland, Royal Munster Fusiliers and Indian Army, was born in May 1888, and commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Munster Fusiliers, 29 August 1906, later transferring to the Indian Army. During his period of service with the Indian Army he served with the 13th Rajputs from April 1910, the 1/9th Bhopal Infantry from October 1917, the 125th Rifles from December 1921, and the 3/6th Rajputana Rifles from June 1922 to March 1936, and subsequently on the staff. He served on the North West Frontier from February to May 1908 (Medal and clasp); in East Africa during the Great War; on the Staff during the Iraq campaign (Medal and clasp); and in the Burma campaign of 1930-32 (Mentioned in despatches London Gazette 20 December 1932, clasp). He was appointed A.A. & Q.M.G. Burma in September 1937, and Colonel in Charge of Administration, Burma, from October 1937 until his death in Burma on 18 March 1939.
