Francis hugh Armstrong joined the Commissariat Department as D.A.C.G. in February 1861. He served in the New Zealand war 1864-66; in the Egyptian war of 1882, and also in the Soudan campaign in 1885. He became Assistant Commissary General in January 1880, Hon. Lieutenant-Colonel in January 1885, and Lieutenant-Colonel in the Reserve of Officers in December 1888. Part of a family group, see lot 91.
