Crimea 1854-55, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (No. 2440 John Lusk, 71 H. Lt. Infy.) contemporary engraved naming; Indian Mutiny 1857-58, 1 clasp, Central India (71st Highd. L.I.); Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, the first with edge bruising, all with contact marks, therefore good fine and better (3)

John Lusk was born in 1828 at Kilmarnock, Ayr, and enlisted in the 71st Foot in 1845, aged 17 years. After serving 15 years and 91 days, he was discharged, but re-enlisted on 13 August 1861. He served in Canada 7 years and three months; Crimea 1 year and 6 months; Malta 1 year and eight months, and India 3 years and four months. He was finally discharged at Fermoy, County Cork, on 12 November 1897, and was not entitled to the long service medal.
