Canada General Service 1866-70, 2 clasps, Fenian Raid 1866, Fenian Raid 1870 (2254 Cpl., R.A.) engraved naming; South Africa 1877-79, clasp, 1879 (769 Coll. Mak. Sergt., N/6th R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (769 C.M. Sergt., 6th B. R.A.); Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R. (Sjt. Clr. Mr., R.A.) some polishing and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine and very scarce (4)

The medal rolls confirm both campaign medals. Samuel Groves served in Canada with the 4th Brigade, Royal Artillery. Fewer than 150 Canada General Service medals were issued to British units with these two clasps.
