A scarce Great War M.M. group of three awarded to Corporal E. R. Bidewell, Royal Air Force

Military Medal, G.V.R. (7467 1/Cl. A.M.-A.Cpl., R.A.F.); British War and Victory Medals (7467 Cpl., R.A.F.) mounted as worn, together with various original photographs, award certificate for M.M. dated 26 May 1918, coloured recruiting certificate ‘E. R. Bidewell of this house is serving King and Country in Royal Flying Corps 1915’, and severalPasses, Routine Orders and certificates, very fine (3)

Corporal Ernest robert Bidewell was born in London on 1 August 1894 and enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps on 5 August 1915. During his service in France he was a Wireless Operator attached to No’s 16, 35 and 25 Squadrons, engaged in Artillery spotting and co-operation. Only 92 M.M’s awarded to the Royal Air Force during the Great War.
