B.E.M. awarded in 1961 on completion of 50 years service in the Chemistry Department at Rothamsted Experimental Station, Harpenden. the following details appear in one of the news cuttings that accompany the lot: ‘The only break in his period of service came in the 1914-18 war, when he served as a sniper in France with the 7th Bedfordshire Regiment. He was one of three brothers in a family of nine, who served in the war, one of them being Corporal Arthur Seabrook, also of the 7th Bedfordshire Regiment, who was killed in France. The third brother, Corporal Charles Seabrook, served throughout the war in the Royal Naval Division.’
