Dupré, bust right in high ruff, retrograde legend, reverse Marie as Cybele, surrounded by her children as Olympian deities, LÆTA DEVM PARTV below, 53mm (Kress 567; Mazerolle 694; BDM I, 657; cf. Clifford Sale, lot 446-7). Date on truncation somewhat indistinct, otherwise a fine early cast, extremely fine and rare (£500-600)
Marie de Medicis (1573-1642), second wife of Henri IV, crowned Queen of France on 13 May 1610; her husband was assassinated the following day
