George Abraham Peters was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in March 1874.
He was born in Devonport in December 1834 and joined the Royal Navy as a member of the Armourer’s Crew of H.M.S. Royal George in February 1854. Quickly witnessing active service in the Baltic in the same ship, he was advanced to the rate of Armourer while serving in the Aboukir in January 1864. His final appointment, aboard the Royal Adelaide, ended in March 1874, when he was pensioned ashore.
