Three: Lieutenant F. H. Fison, Gloucestershire Regiment, formerly Cyclist Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, killed by a shell, 19 July 1916

Frank Henry Fison was born on 8 June 1894 and educated at Bradfield College, where he was a member of the O.T.C. On the outbreak of the war he volunteered for active service and was engaged for some time on home defence, with the ‘Norfolk Cycling Corps’, and subsequently served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from 24 May 1916. Lieutenant Fison was killed in action on 19 July 1916, by a shell, whilst with the 2/6th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, and is buried at Aubers Ridge British Cemetery, France.

His obituary in The Roll of Honour, by The Marquis De Ruvigny further states: ‘... killed in action 19 July 1916 by a shell, while defending a trench... His Commanding Officer wrote “Your boy was quite one of the finest young officers I have ever come across, absolutely fearless, while at the same time sensible, with a very decided mind of his own. He was always cheery and had a very great influence on his men.”
