Jack Harry Mason Apps was killed in action on 20 November 1917, whilst serving with the 1/5th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He was 19 years of age, and is buried at Croisilles British Cemetery, France.

He was the brother of the fighter ace, Lieutenant G. F. M. Apps, D.F.C., No. 66 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, who had nine confirmed victories in Italy.
