Claudius (AD 41-54), Claudius, silver plated Denarius, reverse de britann on architrave of Truimphal arch, surmounted by equestrian statue and two trophies (RIC 34; BMC 35). Condition similar to previous coin, but otherwise extremely fine, very rare (£200-250)

Dated by the Tribunate to AD 46-7, these plated coins were produced only three years or so after the invasion of Britain. They were found in 1996 by the River Waveney in East Anglia.
