Nerva (AD 96-98), Nerva (96-98), Sestertius, reverse fisci ivdaici calvmnia svblata. s.c. palm tree (RIC 82; C 57). Scarce, some slight tooling, fine to good fine (£190-220)
The tax refered to the reverse seems not to have been abolished. The legend refers to the methods of the tax inspectors in checking whether their potential victems were Jewish or not. Jews had to pay after the defeat of the First revolt a fine of one Di-Drachm annually not to the temple at Jerusalem but to the temple of Jupiter at Capitolinus.
