Sapper J. K. Gibson, Royal Engineers was killed in action in Cyprus, 1.2.1957. A photocopy of a cutting from The Guardian, 2.2.1957 provides the details: ‘Nicosia, February 1. A British soldier was killed to-night when a bomb exploded in a tree over a military truck in which he was travelling, just as it was crossing a bridge near Limassol, where three soldiers were killed last year. Two other servicemen were wounded by a bomb which was thrown at their vehicle in Farmagusta...’
