The Army Post Office Corps was raised from volunteers from the 24th Middlesex Volunteer Rifle Corps in 1882. 45 officers and men qualified for the Egypt 1882 medal without clasp, while ten of these men, including Green, served at Suakin in 1885, along with 11 others who were in Egypt for the first time and received the undated medal with Suakin 1885 clasp.
