Guy Stanley Wodeman was born in 1886, the youngest son of the Rev. Henry Wodeman of The Grange, Folkestone. Educated at Rossall and at Jesus College, Cambridge, he entered the Ceylon Civil Service in 1909. Remaining so employed until his retirement in 1942, Wodeman held a succession of senior posts, among them Excise Commissioner 1926-31, Principal Collector of Customs and Chairman, Colombo Port Commission 1931-36, Deputy Chief Secretary 1937-40 (C.M.G. 1939) and Chief Secretary, Ceylon Government 1940-42. Re-employed by the Colonial Office from 1942 until the end of the War, Wodeman died in 1970.
