Robert Francis Reid was born at Arrow River, Manitoba, in November 1924 and enlisted at Regina in May 1943. Following basic training in Canada, he was drafted to the 2nd Canadian Infantry Reinforcement Unit in the U.K. and thence to Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Italy in February 1944. Killed in action in the preliminary battle for the Hitler Line, Reid was buried at the Cassino War Cemetery.
