John Terrence Gough was born on 5 August 1905, and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Rotal Tank Corps on 29 January 1925; Lieutenant, 29 January 1927; Captain, Royal Tank Regiment, 19 April 1936; Acting Major, 27 July 1940; Major, 29 January 1942; Local Lieutenant-Colonel, October to December 1943, specially employed with British Military Mission to Egypt; Acting Lieutenant-Colonel, 5 May 1945; Colonel, 29 October 1949. Colonel Gough retired in August 1953.
