Pair: Able Seaman D. M. Pedden, Royal Canadian Navy

Korea 1950-53, silver (D. M. Pedden, 6531 E.); U.N. Korea, unnamed, mounted Court style as worn, good very fine (2) £80-100

Donald McLeod Pedden enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy as an Ordinary Seaman in November 1946. Advanced to Able Seaman in April 1948, he served off Korea in H.M.C.S. Cayuga a destroyer, between July 1950 and April 1951. Commanded by Captain J. V. Brock, D.S.C., who would shortly add a D.S.O. to his honours, the Cayuga was actively engaged in operations during the time of Pedden’s appointment, winning the accolade of being the first R.C.N. ship to engage the enemy and participating in a number of bombardments, Te bu Somu and Inchon being among her targets. She was also lucky to narrowly escape enemy mines and came through typhoon Clara.

Pedden was released from the Service in January 1952.
