Daisy Constance Wells was born in Loughborough, Leicestershire. Prior to the war she was employed as a Nursing Sister at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. As a Sister in the Q.A.I.M.N.S.R. she entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 29 January 1915. Her service papers record her service mainly with Casualty Clearing Stations during 1916/17. Served at No. 4 General Hospital, December 1917-May 1918; and then No. 39 Stationary Hospital, May 1918-January 1919. Her papers record that in the latter ‘she had charge of the operating theatre during times of great pressures and has given entire satisfaction to all concerned.’ Her conduct is excellent and she is a very pleasant member of the Mess.’
