Frank Dale was born in Christchurch, Hampshire. A Fish Merchant by occupation, and a member of the Hampshire Yeomanry, he attested for short service at Winchester on 22 January 1900, aged 25 years, 2 months. Served with the 50th (Hampshire) Company 17th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry in South Africa, April 1900-June 1901. Discharged on 15 June 1901. With copied service papers. Approximately 85 ‘Rhodesia’ clasps to the Hampshire Yeomanry.
