Provenance: D 16B W.J. Faulkner Collection, Glendining Auction, 21-3 May 1940, lot 198 (part); B.W. Hunt Collection; SCMB June 1965 (16a).
The only other specimen of D 16B known in 1973 was that acquired by Dr Paul Robinson for the Central Library, Museum & Art Gallery in Stafford. This piece, acquired from a jeweller in Knightsbridge in October 1970, may well be the same specimen known to have been sent on approval in 1955 by Baldwin’s to Charles Orme, a private collector in Uttoxeter known to Mr Watkin
