Sold with a letter to Miss G. Buhler, a secretary at the Society, from F.H. Main of Garrard’s, 12 February 1958, hoping that the lead impression “will be of assistance…in reaching a decision whether a new die must be made, altering the title…to ‘The Royal Commonwealth Society’ “.
Incorporated as the Colonial Society in 1868 and awarded a royal charter in 1882, the Royal Empire Society changed its name to the Royal Commonwealth Society in May 1958
