Mary (1542-1567), One-Third Ryal, 1565, mm. thistle on rev. only, reads scotorv and dessipentr, 9.88g/4h (B 17; SCBI 35, 1130, same rev. die; S 5427). With crowned thistle countermark for the revaluation of 1578 on reverse, striking split at 2 o’clock, otherwise very fine and attractively toned, rare (£600-650)
