Alexander III (1249-1286), Sterling, Gp I [class A], mm. cross potent on obv., St Andrew’s cross with pellets in angles on rev., obv. reads g’ra, closed cs and es, rev. escossie rex, four mullets of six points, 1.16g/1h (Stewart/North Be/A1; B 16, fig. 143; S 5049). Centre cracked, otherwise about very fine, reverse with coarse surface, rare (£90-120)
